The Thomas Foundation’s mission is to equip individuals to become agents of transformative change by supporting art, health, & leadership in DC and across the globe. Supporting individuals that demonstrate a willingness to solve problems requires many forms of investment from the Thomas Foundation. Keeping this mission in mind, we have been able to promote long-term economic support, mentorship, and education opportunities around the world. With Giving Tuesday less than two months away and many of you starting to think about where your money would be well spent, we wanted to highlight some of our recent ventures and successes to show you how the Thomas Foundation would be a worthy recipient of your tax exempt charitable donation dollars. Recently, we traveled to Boston to speak with The Dean of the Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University, Alan Solomont. Dean Solomont is a former United States Ambassador to Spain, and has many years of knowledge about civic engagement, philanthropy, and global affairs. You can help the Thomas Foundation become apart of this global day of giving in order to raise money for our partner organizations around the world. GivingTuesday started in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, and is today supported by some of the world’s most prominent figures. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the United States), and the two biggest shopping events of the year, i.e.Black Friday and Cyber Monday, GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many are focusing on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources. The Thomas Foundation believes that we all stand to benefit from joining this global day of philanthropy. When thinking about where to spend your money this holiday season, we hope that you will keep the Thomas Foundation in mind. From providing access to education, learning and growth in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, to supporting homeless children here at home in Washington, D.C., the Thomas Foundation is striving to make a difference, and we can’t do it without you.
