BIG IDEAS HAVE SMALL—AND OFTEN VULNERABLE—BEGINNINGS
Many of the world’s most successful innovations have been developed by creative individuals striving to overcome challenges in their daily lives. Providing support to the right people, at the right time and in the right place can spur positive change throughout entire communities. The Thomas Foundation provides strategic support to individuals and organizations at the earliest, most fragile stage in the creative process, when a modest investment can yield enormous benefits.

EVERYWHERE MATTERS
From densely populated urban centers to the most remote rural areas, the struggle to overcome entrenched social and economic challenges has far-reaching implications in our increasingly interconnected world. Just as seemingly local issues can rapidly evolve into national or regional crises, a breakthrough achievement by a single struggling community can have a transformative impact that extends far beyond its immediate context. Thomas Foundation grants bridge the gap between on-the-ground experience and global applications.

LONG-TERM COMMUNITY BUILDING
The Thomas Foundation supports art, business, education and community initiatives that foster sustainable community development through creativity and experimentation. Our diverse grantees comprise an interdisciplinary group of global entrepreneurs, artists, politicians, teachers and creative problem-solvers.

INVESTING IN CHANGE
The Thomas Foundation is a catalyst for change. We seek out individuals and communities that are actively exploring new ideas and challenging established paradigms. Our role is to identify emerging solutions, and to assist innovators in realizing their creative potential.

OUR HISTORY

The Thomas Foundation was founded by Syga Thomas in 2015. As a former US State Department diplomat and successful entrepreneur, Thomas has developed a profound appreciation for courageous leadership in both the public and private sectors.

COLLABORATIVE LEADERSHIP

Realizing the potential of innovative ideas often requires active engagement and guidance that exceeds the scope of traditional philanthropic grants. A Thomas Foundation grant is an invitation to take part in a long-term process of collaborative growth.
