The Thomas Foundation works with diverse partners engaged in a variety of community-focused artistic projects. We believe that everyone has a right to participate in and access culture, and that cultural institutions, artists, and creative individuals can play an important role in teaching, inventing, and expressing shared beliefs, and celebrating differences. We do not dictate content or programming. Instead, we support individual artists or institutions whose work reflects a commitment to:

  • Excellence – High standards of achievement inspire individuals to push the boundaries of their abilities.
  • Inclusivity – Culture belongs to everyone, and ensuring access to culture is as important as creating it.
  • Creativity – The willingness to challenge accepted ideas and breach intellectual and artistic boundaries is fundamental to the creative process.
